Through collaborative co-design, we commission services that improve access to community-focused care and address priority areas such as Aboriginal health, mental health and suicide prevention, chronic conditions, palliative care, and alcohol and other drugs.

In 2024/25 we:

Officially opened headspace Kiama, and unveiled outpost locations in Narooma and Eden for young people to access mental health support.

Opened new adult mental health services in Queanbeyan, Shoalhaven and Moruya to improve mental health and wellbeing.

Attended a hearing of the Special Commission of Inquiry into Healthcare Funding.

Held focus groups with 200+ people as part of our commissioning co-design and consultation, reviewing severe and complex mental health services and the Healthy Hearts, Healthy Minds program.

Supported A Good Mind To podcast through our CPS Community Grants, who won a Mental Health Matters Award.

Secured a competitive grant for supporting outreach healthcare for victim-survivors of family, domestic and sexual violence in Nowra, Moruya, and Goulburn.

Awarded contract to improve access to aged care, disability and veterans’ services in regional and Aboriginal communities.

Participated in NSW Older Persons Aftercare pilot to improve access to support for suicidal distress.

Helped establish a primary care nursing clinic for refugees delivered by Multicultural Communities Council of Illawarra, which supported more than 40 former refugee families.

Awarded Alcohol and Other Drug (AOD) Innovation Grants to three programs delivering early intervention and wellbeing support.

Partnered with Clean Slate Clinic to fund a new at-home detox and recovery program to support people with AOD dependence.

Supported Street Side Medics who were named Medicare Champions for their free, GP led, mobile medical service to people experiencing homelessness.

Supported the development of the CLARA app to help individuals manage their arthritis more effectively.  

Provided grants for clinicians to complete the ANZCA 'Better Pain Management' program, enhancing care for patients with acute and chronic pain.

Free, walk-in mental health support across our region

COORDINARE commissions seven adult mental health services across the region, making it easier for people to access timely, local support when they need it most. These include:

  • two Medicare Mental Health Centres in Moruya and Shellharbour.
  • five Mental Health Hubs in Bega, Goulburn, Queanbeyan, Shoalhaven, and Wollongong.

These services provide walk-in mental health support for adults experiencing moderate psychological distress  no referral or appointment needed.
